KANE JUST CAN’T BAY A VICTORY

- BY DARREN WELLS

HARRY KANE’S hopes of a first career trophy took another massive hit as Bayern Munich crashed to a third straight defeat.

Bayern, who were beaten 1-0 at Lazio in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Wednesday night after losing 3-0 to Bundesliga leaders Leverkusen, slipped to a 3-2 defeat at Bochum and now manager Thomas Tuchel’s job is in jeopardy.

England captain Kane (top) bagged his 25th goal of the campaign as he gave Bayern a glimmer of hope with a 87th-minute tap-in but he then fluffed a great chance to snatch a point, heading straight at Bochum keeper Manuel Riemann.

Bayern had taken a 14th-minute lead when Jamal Musiala lashed a thumping shot into the roof of the net Play was suspended midway through the first half for more than five minutes after fans launched tennis balls onto the pitch in protest at the German FA. The break worked wonders for Bochum, who hit two quick-fire goals in six minutes before half-time to take the lead.

Takuma Asano fired past Manuel Neuer to haul Bochum level after 38 minutes before Keven Schlotterbeck’s header from Kevin Stoger’s corner gave them the lead.

But Bochum stretched their lead when Stoger converted a penalty after Dayot Upamecano was sent off for the second time in five days.

Kane’s late intervention raised Bayern hopes but they could not find a late equaliser.

Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel said: “We completely dominated the game and actually went behind out of nowhere.

“We never stopped putting in the effort until the end and then played with a man down for a long time.”
