DYCHE: LEAVE OFF MY MATE

- BY DAVID ANDERSON

SEAN DYCHE cannot understand fans calling for David Moyes’ head given the progress West Ham have made.

Dyche is big pals with Moyes (below) and enjoys spending time socially with the ex-Everton boss.

And Dyche insists Moyes’ record should not be questioned when he has led the Hammers to sixth and seventh in the Premier League – and Europa Conference League glory.

West Ham are eighth heading into today’s clash and Dyche feels his counterpart has done an impressive job.

The Toffees boss (top right) said: “David Moyes is someone I have a massively high regard for.

“He’s always been a voice, certainly if I’ve ever needed it or even after games, to share a bit of time with him.

“It’s a vast experience he’s got, so there’s certainly an immediate respect there for him.

“He’s a good guy as well. I’ve been in his company socially, I always have a bit of fun with him.

“And I think he’s done a great job over a period there, and I know what he did here. He’s held in very high regard by Everton Football Club and rightly so. “There are always question marks over what we do, but if you look at the period he’s had there from where they were to where they are now, I think there’s a lot of progress there.”

Despite his respect for Moyes, Dyche claims Everton can seal what has been a good week for the club by ending their nine-game winless run to finish with seven points.

He was cheered by the four points they recouped following their original 10-points deduction for breaking Profitability and Sustainability Rules and wants them to build on this.

He said: “With the points being given back, if you could win on the back of that, that would be a very good week.

“I’ve said it recently, I think a lot of our performances have been winning performances, but we haven’t found the details that count and that’s our next step.

“That’s been all season really. We’ve had a good level of consistency and now it’s adding the details in both boxes and we’re not far away, but we’ve got to get it right.”
