LEAGUE TWO

-

ACCRINGTON 0 BRADFORD CITY 3

TYREIK WRIGHT is smiling again after heaping fresh misery on Stanley.

Plymouth-loanee Wright scored the first two and Andy Cook the third in Accrington’s first game since the controversial sacking of long-serving manager John Coleman.

Wright, 22, hadn’t scored all season but said: “I’m absolutely buzzing to be back playing with a smile on my face.

“Extra finishing after training seems to be working, so long may it continue.”

FOREST GREEN 2 WALSALL 0

Forest Green 2 Walsall 0 STEVE COTTERILL is convinced Forest Green can escape the drop.

Rovers were nine points adrift of safety when he was appointed in January but that is now down to two.

Cotterill said: “There are going to be bumps in the road but it is about us staying focused, being determined and being honest.”

Emmanuel Osadebe and Kyle McAllister scored either side of a double

MANSFIELD TOWN 3 SWINDON TOWN 2

LEWIS BRUNT hailed Mansfield’s gritty desire to stay as league leaders after a stern Swindon fightback was repelled.

Substitute Will Swan’s header proved just enough after Stags strikes from Lucas Akins and Davis Keillor-Dunn were cancelled out by Paul Glatzel and then Aaron Drinan.

Defender Brunt said: “We dug in and got important blocks and clearances in, especially at the end when they threw the kitchen sink at us.”

NOTTS COUNTY 0 AFC WIMBLEDON 2

JAKE REEVES hopes some straight talking can propel Wimbledon to promotion.

Too many points were dropped in February but this win moved the Dons to just one off the final play-off spot.

Skipper Reeves said: “We had a chat in the week. We feel like we should have picked up a few more points.”

Kofi Balmer’s header added to Connell Rawlinson’s own goal to leave County mid-table.

BARROW 2 COLCHESTER 0

KIAN SPENCE changed his mind over the free-kick cracker that kept Barrow on course for the play-offs.

Spence netted in added time in the first half, and Sam Foley right at the end of the second as the Bluebirds consolidated sixth spot.

He said: “I was thinking of going under the wall but they put a man lying on the floor.

“That helped me - not thinking about where I was going to hit it.”

GILLINGHAM 1 TRANMERE 1

Gillingham 1 Tranmere 1 STEPHEN CLEMENCE was annoyed Tim Dieng’s Gills ‘winner’ was ruled out for handball.

Gillingham moved into the play-offs anyway, after Conor Masterson cancelled out Regan Hendry’s early Rovers strike.

But boss Clemence felt his side deserved more than a single-point advantage over the chasing pack.

He said: “I’m not one of those who moans about referees. Decisions even themselves out but I feel

MK DONS 3 SALFORD CITY 1

EMRE TEZGEL wants to add promotion to his first senior strike.

The Stoke loanee, 18, added to goals from Kyran Lofthouse and Alex Gilbey as Salford were sent packing with only Matt Smith’s early opener to cheer.

The Dons are fourth, two points off the last automatic promotion slot, and Tezgel said: “Having a promotion on my CV would be really nice.

“It’s a huge opportunity and I have to take it.”

STOCKPORT 1 NEWPORT 0

PADDY MADDEN made amends for his penalty miss with a late Stockport clincher.

The striker was denied in the 73rd minute by Newport keeper Nick Townsend.

But he ended his club’s three-game goal drought in stoppage-time to keep them in second spot.

Madden, 34, said: “I thought I would keep it interesting!

“It would have been a tricky night for myself if I hadn’t managed to get the winner.”

DONCASTER 2 CREWE 0

TOMMY ROWE is confident Rovers will return to the right half of the table next season.

Substitute Rowe added to Hakeeb Adelakun’s opener that came direct from a corner as Crewe dropped down to five points off the last automatic slot.

Rovers are still not quite safe from relegation but they are coming good at the right time.

Rowe said: “We are now building for something bigger - you can see that clearly now.”

HARROGATE TOWN 1 CRAWLEY TOWN 2

KLAIDI LOLOS sees no reason why Crawley cannot gate-crash the play-offs.

Lolos added to Harry Forster’s equaliser to make George Thomson’s 13th Harrogate goal of the season redundant.

Crawley are still 11th but are just three points off the last play-off slot.

Lolos said: “The table is so tight, there are seven or eight teams fighting for seventh place. No one has grabbed hold of that position yet.”

MORECAMBE 1 WREXHAM 3

ARCHIE MAIR admitted it was all plain sailing for Wrexham once Max Melbourne saw red.

Morecambe were holding their own even when Ged Garner’s opener was cancelled out by James McClean.

But Paul Mullin converted after Melbourne was sent off for conceding a penalty, with substitute Steven Fletcher adding a third.

Shrimps keeper Mair said: “When we got the red card and the penalty a few heads may have gone down.”

SUTTON UNITED 1 GRIMSBY TOWN 1

JUSTIN OBIKWU was delighted to net his first senior goal.

Grimsby’s on-loan Coventry wide-man, 20, opened the scoring just before half-time.

But bottom club Sutton claimed a point through Charlie Lakin’s penalty two minutes from the end.

It was a day to remember for Obikwu, who said: “It’s an amazing feeling - I would do anything to have it again so next game I am going for two at least.”
