TWO men have been convicted of stabbing to death a footballer for bumping into one of them two days earlier.

Remy Gordon, 23, and Kami Carpenter, 22, knifed Cody Fisher in the heart in front of his girlfriend on a nightclub dance floor on Boxing Day 2022.

Cody, a PE teacher who played for Stratford Town, had been involved in a petty incident with Gordon on Christmas Eve.

The former Birmingham City academy star, 23, had made unavoidable contact with him as he left Popworld bar in Solihull.

Gordon was said to be embarrassed after Cody refused to apologise, and posted messages appealing for help identifying him to “shank him up”.

Two days later Gordon went armed to take revenge at the Crane club in Digbeth, Birmingham.

Cody, from Redditch, Worcs, was knifed in the chest and leg by a masked group, one wound penetrating a valve in his heart.

Paramedics found the murder weapon still embedded in his chest as he lay bleeding on the dance floor. Yesterday Cody’s mum Tracey branded her son’s killers evil after the verdict at Birmingham crown court.

She said: “So you can bump into somebody in a pub or a club, accidentally, and that is the repercussion? To be that evil. It’s been a never-ending constant hell and trauma. They have absolutely broken my heart.”

Gordon, of Birmingham, and Carpenter, of no fixed address, were convicted of murder. Reegan Anderson, 19, was cleared of murder, but convicted of affray.

All three will be sentenced next month.

Cody’s family are calling for “Cody’s Law”to force all venues to use metal detectors and have bleed kits.
