Jackson zooms into the world at bike track
A NEW mum says her baby really is born to ride after joining her motorbike-mad family in a shock delivery at a motocross track.
Shannon Watson, 17, was stunned when Jackson arrived during the event on Sunday.
As was her mum – who did not know she was pregnant.
Shannon was around 40 weeks and said she felt fine when she set off for the track some 90 miles from her home.
At 8.30am on Sunday she was in the scoring hut and meant to be noting bikers’ times but she “couldn’t focus” due to a “really bad” pain in her stomach.
Shannon said: “I messaged Mum saying my stomach was hurting and an hour-and-a-half later, I went to the medics.
“Twenty minutes from there, it came out I was in labour. The staff called the ambulance but they had paramedics there.
“Because it was at a race track and I was not in a hospital, I was a bit overwhelmed. There were so many people around.

“One of the track medics and an ambulance woman delivered the baby while someone had a towel under their top to warm it up for Jackson.”
Shannon gave birth to 8lb 4oz Jackson Deane in Doncaster Moto Parc’s offices in South Yorkshire at 1.20pm and then went to hospital.
Mum Nicola Bedford, 37, said of not knowing Shannon was pregnant: “She was scared and didn’t tell anyone. And you couldn’t tell she was pregnant.
“So as you can imagine, I was very shocked.”
Shannon, of Peterborough, Cambs, who is in a relationship with Jackson’s dad, said: “There have been jokes. The main one has been the name should be Donny, as he was born in Doncaster.
“He’d have probably been riding anyway as my great-grandad, grandad, dad, uncle and nephew ride and my mum is the secretary of a club.
“Everyone has been saying, ‘He is born to ride and born to race’.”
Doncaster Moto Parc said: “We had a little hold-up in the racing while a baby was delivered in our office! How amazing.”
