PRINCESS Beatrice says her mum, the Duchess of York, is “doing really well” after a double cancer blow.

The royal told how Sarah Ferguson is thriving after a turbulent period in which she was diagnosed with two types of cancer in the span of eight months.

Fergie was told by doctors in March that it appeared her malignant melanoma skin cancer had not spread.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery last year.

Beatrice, 35, said: “She’s doing really well, thank you. She had a bumpy health scare last year but she’s all clear now.

“But I think at 64, she’s thriving, she’s been through so much, but now she’s coming into her own.

“We are just reminded when any parent or individual has a health scenario, you really need to get the checks as early as you possibly can.”

The princess spoke to ITV’s This Morning presenters Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle via videolink from the top of the Empire State Building in New York City, where she was supporting educational charity the Outward Bound Trust.

Beatrice said that both she and her sister Princess Eugenie, 34, were “so proud” of their mum.

She added: “Her sense of purpose and resilience really keeps me going.”

Fergie is still living with her disgraced ex-husband Prince Andrew at his Royal Lodge mansion in Windsor, despite the King trying to persuade the Duke of York to move out in recent months.

However, Charles, 75, is known to have a soft spot for Fergie and the pair have bonded through private letters where they have expressed their support for one another given their individual cancer battles.

In March, Fergie also expressed her admiration for the Princess of Wales, saying she will be “surrounded by the love of her family and everyone is praying for the best outcome”, after she was also diagnosed with cancer.

Beatrice was also asked about Fergie joining Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary as a guest host on This Morning last year. She left viewers flabbergasted when offering relationship advice to callers, advising on wearing “saucy underwear” to spice things up in the bedroom.

A laughing Beatrice admitted: “It was one of the most hilarious segments. I watched it half from behind the sofa.”

She’s been through so much but is really coming into her own
