Easterby is all Zet to strike

MARBUZET gets the Nap vote to thrive for his return to turf in the Download The Raceday Ready App Handicap (2.47) at Catterick today.

For a horse who has spent most of his career plying his trade in handicaps, the fiveyear-old has a most respectable strike-rate of four wins from 24 starts — with 10 podium finishes thrown in for good measure.

Two of those successes for trainer Tim Easterby came when Marbuzet was stepped up to staying trips in the second half of last season — my selection scored over a mile and six furlongs at Carlisle in September before following up over an additional quarter-mile at Musselburgh nine days later.

Having rounded off his turf campaign with a half-length second at York another week on, Marbuzet wasn’t at his best when fifth of six behind Cool Party at Southwell last month.

That was the Farhh gelding’s all-weather debut and Marbuzet, re-equipped with blinkers — he wore the headgear for both his wins last season — can show his true colours back on grass under David Allan (above).

At Wolverhampton, ACES WILD, unplaced at Bath last time out, should appreciate going back to Tapeta as he bids for a third courseand-distance triumph in the Download The Racing App Raceday Ready Handicap (7.55).
