Tim, fly high with our lost son until we see you again
ROADS CARNAGE TRIBUTE TO DAD Heartbroken wife’s goodbye to fisherman husband
THE wife of a devoted dad who was knocked down and killed by a car paid an emotional tribute to him yesterday, on their daughter’s birthday.
Timothy Humphreys was hit while walking along the A836 in John O’Groats, Caithness, at 11.40pm on Friday.
Emergency services rushed to the scene but the 33-year-old fisherman and coastguard member could not be saved.
He leaves behind his wife Sarah, 38, and four children, Madeliene – who turned nine yesterday – Ryan, six, and twins Oskar and Coen, four.
The couple’s son Nathan was stillborn in 2009.
Sarah yesterday said: “From the bottom of my heart, I thank everyone for their messages and condolences.
“I have lost my best friend and the best father my children could have ever had. My heart is truly broken.
“I am thankfully blessed with four beautiful children, who are so heartbroken.
“We have have lost the most special happy man who adored his children beyond words.
“Tim. Fly high with Nathan until we see you again.”
Family friend Allison Laws said: “Timmy was one of life’s characters. I always thought of him as a big teddy bear who had a big heart and he will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
“I am really sad he has gone too soon. Give my heartfelt condolences to his family. Be at peace, Timmy. We will miss you.”
Friend Rachel Alexandra Watt added: “My thoughts and prayers are with Sarah and family along with Karen and the rest of the Humphreys clan in this dark hour. Rest in peace now, Tim.”
Calum Macdonald added: “Timmy was a true gentleman and great to be around and to converse with. I have many great memories of him. He will be sorely missed.”
The road was closed for nine hours while accident investigation work was carried out.
Police want to speak to anyone who saw a pedestrian walking on or near the road between the A99 junction and Newton in the hour leading up to the collision.
Those who witnessed the collision or have any information are urged to call 101.
A fundraising page has been set up by friends to help Timothy’s family pay for funeral costs.
