ROWAN..THIS IS YOUR LAST WARRENING

HOUND’S 9 DAYS IN RABBIT HOLE Owner’s relief as lost pet returns

A PET dog who was trapped down a rabbit burrow for nine days has turned up safe and well.

Locals in Oban turned out in force to search for Patterdale terrier/Jack Russell cross Rowan after she disappeared in a field full of rabbit holes.

And when distraught owner Sandra Muir drove to the search area at Ganavan Sandson on Thursday, she was greeted with good news.

Sandra, 50, of Oban, said: “I pulled in to park and I saw someone waving their arms, so I reversed to see what it was.

“It was Karen Delaney, who had been going to search regularly – she was running towards the car. “She said, ‘We’ve found her!’” Rowan was found near the rabbit warren and Sandra believes she must have been stuck underground until she lost enough weight to get out.

She joked that it was only after the story appeared in the Record on Wednesday that Rowan came out... thinking she must be famous. Sandra said: “She was just stood there in the long grass. I ran over, pulled my scarf off and wrapped her up and bolted in to the vets.”

Although Rowan had lost weight, she escaped her ordeal with only a few scratches to her head and a sore mouth.

Sandra said: “The vet checked her over and said she looks remarkably well. It looks, from the marks in her mouth, like she has been trying to bite her way out – her paws may have been stuck.”

She warned other owners: “If you are going to let your dog off the lead, never take your eyes off it.

“If I had known which hole to search, it would have been easier to find her.” Sensaform 3000 2 Drawer Double Divan Was £699.99 Harlington Double Bed Frame Was £499.99 Previously £249.99 Minnesota 2 Drawer Double Divan After event price £799.99 Previously £399.99
