Scots MP Mhairi gives Tory a lesson in plain speaking

A CLIP of MP Mhairi Black appearing to say: “You talk s***e, hen” to a Tory Minister has gone viral.

Black was caught on camera muttering under her breath during an exchange with Caroline Nokes in the House of Commons.

The SNP MP clashed with Nokes over the Government’s planned withdrawal of housing benefits for 18-21-year-olds.

When the Minister argued that the Scottish Parliament could alleviate the changes, Black clearly wasn’t convinced.

She mouthed what appeared to be some very unparliamentary language. Yesterday, the video clip was all over social media, with a Twitter debate about what Black, 22, said. Katie McGarvery wrote: “Not much of a lip-reader but definitely mouthing, “You talk s***e, hen”.

A Twitter user called @Scottishlass wrote: “Lip reader here, it’s ‘Dinnae talk s***e, hen’.”

Paul Robertson added: “It’s certainly not, ‘I do believe you’re telling some fibs minister”.”

Scotticus tweeted: “It does look like it. I think it’s, ‘That’s not right, hen’ or ‘That’s not right, then’. I prefer your version.”

The video shows Black addressing Nokes in the Commons about the housing benefit cuts.

She says: “Does the Minister agree that it is simply ridiculous that young people should suffer purely because this Government is obsessed with imposing austerity?”

When Nokes tries to argue back, Paisley and Renfrewshire South MP Black mouths her controversial reply.

Black, who is the UK’s youngest MP, was just 20 when she was elected in 2015.

At the time, Black’s social media hit the headlines for some expletive-laden tweets.

One said: “Started with a few wkd’s and now i’m watching channel 4OD .... what the f ****** happened to my night.”

Another tweet said: “The nuns can get tae f***”.

The SNP declined to comment on the Commons exchange.
