WE’RE BEST AND WILL GET BETTER

-

From Back Page “Everyone can have their own opinion on what they think. I think it’s clear for anybody looking at the league, where it’s at.

“We do our talking on the pitch and we’ll always be that way.

“We have no interest in what they (Rangers) are doing. It’s just, ‘Can we improve our squad, can we improve our play, can we be even better next year’ and other teams can do what they want.”

Celtic could be crowned champions at Dundee tomorrow if Aberdeen slip up at home to Hearts.

The Hoops are on course for a historic points haul but Davies insists they can do the same again next term.

He said: “I don’t see any reason why not. That will be our ambition, our aim, our objective. But at the same time it’s important there is a sensible outlook on it as well and an acknowledgement that the unbeaten run and the winning run, breaking records that have stood for a long time, is something special.”

Despite being so close to glory Davies admitted it will be sweet whenever the championship is confirmed. He added: “Whenever it does come, it is going to be a very special feeling.

“It is going to be the first league title that the manager has won so it will be a special day and for the fans and everyone, you want them to have that feeling again.

“The thing about this weekend is that it is not in our control. That is down to what is happening at Aberdeen and our culture here is we don’t rely on anyone else.

“We don’t need anyone else to do us a favour, we focus on ourselves.

“If we win the game and the result doesn’t go our way in Aberdeen then we won’t be champions so whenever we get there it will be a special feeling.”

Meanwhile, Davies confirmed playmaker Tom Rogic is within a fortnight of a comeback.
