HOW CAN I GET MY MOJO BACK?

-

Dear Coleen

I’M losing the will to live and desperately need to regain my spark for life.

I’ve gone from being an active football-playing, hardworking guy who took pride in his appearance, to a lazy, overweight person who can’t seem to motivate himself.

I can’t seem to get out of this rut, which started when I met my ex and then had to give up work because my weight was causing ill health.

The only thing that keeps me going is comfort eating, particularly sausage rolls and litres of Coke. I’m worried that no one will ever find me attractive again. Please help me to get my mojo back.

Coleen says

WELL, here’s the thing – getting your mojo back can only be achieved by you. You can get all the best advice in the world but you have to be the one to decide life’s too short to feel like this.

I understand that it feels like a mountain to climb and it’s easier to just have another sausage roll.

At the moment, losing weight and getting fit again will feel daunting – overwhelming even – but once you get going, exercise itself is actually the best motivator because it releases all those feel-good hormones.

But start with baby steps. Walk round the block every day and work up to walking further and faster or starting to jog. Get yourself a Fitbit to track your progress. Once you start feeling better and losing a few pounds that’ll motivate you too.

When it comes to eating well, there is so much information out there online. You can still eat well, enjoy your meals and feel satisfied. It’s about arming yourself with that knowledge.

You might not be fit enough to play football right now but why not go and watch it and get interested again, and make it your goal to get back on the pitch playing five-a-side.

Remember, you’re a good person with a lot to offer. As for your ex – the best form of revenge is to get happy, so turn any anger you have for her into something positive and help it motivate you. I’d love to hear how you get on. Good luck.
