Dylan devastated by deaths of star pals

- MARK JEFFERIES reporters@dailyrecord.co.uk

BOB Dylan said the deaths of close friends Muhammad Ali and Leonard Cohen left him feeling “lonesome”.

The 75-year-old music legend said he was hit hard last year by losing pals, who also included musicians Leon Russell and Merle Haggard.

On his website BobDylan. com, he wrote: “We were like brothers, we lived on the same street and they all left empty spaces where they used to stand. It’s lonesome without them.”

The Forever Young star said greatness was “beyond your control – you get it by chance, but only for a short time”. And he told of a party at Frank Sinatra’s house where the My Way singer said their blue eyes meant they were from the stars.

Dylan’s album Triplicate is out next Friday.
