BOSS DrOWneD HIS SOrrOWS AT FrAnCe 2016

-

WALES boss Chris Coleman has revealed his side’s 2-1 Euro 2016 group defeat to England drove him to drink.

He said: “It was a dry camp, no alcohol. But I had a double Irish whiskey by myself, a sneaky one as I was devastated.

“It was the second game, we had a point in the bag and with four points we were going through but let it slip. I was gutted.”

“It is one of the few times the players played the occasion. We went 1-0 up and then wished our life away rather than just enjoying those moments.

“We can’t go to Ireland, sit back for 90 minutes hoping we nick one – we’ve done that before. When you’re up against a team that’s similar to you, you’ve got to go on the front foot, go for it and try to win.”

Wales are third in Group D, four points off leaders Ireland and Coleman says he is totally focused on leading them to a their first World Cup finals since 1958.

He said: “I’m desperate to go back and be in the middle of that pressure. I absolutely want that again.”
