FA boss set to ban fans after chants shame
ENGLAND fans were branded “disrespectful” by FA chairman Greg Clarke after outrageous chanting in Germany.
Football Association chiefs are promising to review footage of the supporters and pledged to issue banning orders against those found guilty.
Clarke stepped away from the usual diplomatic line to issue a strong statement against a section of the English fans who sang about the Second World War and booed the German national anthem.
The chants in Dortmund came on the day London was hit by a terror attack.
Clarke said: “A section of the England support’s behaviour in Dortmund was inappropriate, disrespectful and disappointing.
“The FA has consistently urged supporters to show respect and not chant songs that could be regarded as insulting to others.
“Individuals who engage in such behaviour do not represent the overwhelming majority of England fans nor the values and identity we should aspire to as a football nation.”
FIFA are likely to also investigate.
