Rape cops in plea for witnesses
POLICE investigating a rape are keen to speak to three possible witnesses seen in the area.
A 27-year-old woman was attacked at about 8pm on February 20 as she walked between Byres Road and Glenmalloch Place in Elderslie, Renfrewshire.
The suspect is described as between 35 and 50, of medium to stocky build and with dark hair receding on top. He wore dark trousers and a light T-shirt.
Detective Inspector Louise Harvie said the three men “may have seen the suspect or unwittingly witnessed something vital”.
She added: “The first man was seen in Stoddard Square at around 8pm on Sunday. February 19 or Monday. February 20. He is described as between 30 to 50 with dark trousers and a light top.
“The second was seen near the Wallace Monument in Main Road at around 8.15pm on February 20. He is described as in his 30s, 5ft 10ins and stocky with short dark hair and clean-shaven. He wore dark trousers and a dark parka-style jacket.
“The third was seen near the Wallace Monument at about 1.10am on February 21. He is described as 30 to 40, broad build and wearing dark jeans, black jacket and white trainers.”
