A PAEDOPHILE who moaned online about having to tell employers about his crimes has been sacked from his new job after lying about his past.
Ex-Scottish Government civil servant Christopher Black was jailed for 20 months in 2011 after a police probe found he had more than 2000 horrific images and videos of child abuse on various devices.
Black, 35, was also placed on the sex offenders’ register.
He then landed a management job with Macdonald Hotels at their head office in Bathgate, West Lothian.
But he failed to tell bosses about his criminal past when he was appointed in November 2014 and the hotel chain were tipped off about it by a sickened colleague.
Black, who lives in a swanky flat in Livingston, was sacked last week.
The convict had previously whinged on his blog, Rants Of A Hopeless Idealist, about criminals having to disclose convictions to employers.
He wrote: “While it’s against the law, it’s fairly clear employers discriminate against those with criminal convictions.
“There is plenty of anecdotal evidence to suggest applications are passed over when the box is ticked stating the applicant has an unspent conviction.
“No matter the job, virtually all employers ask if an applicant has a criminal conviction, even when it’s not relevant to the role applied for. It’s clear that disclosure of offences cuts people off from work.”
Black was caught with the indecent images during a police raid on his home and at his ex-girlfriend’s address in Larkhall, Lanarkshire, in February 2009.
During the raid, Black admitted there were inappropriate materials on his computer equipment. He later handed over a laptop to investigating officers.
Hamilton Sheriff Court was told that 2058 images and 47 videos of child sex abuse were found on a computer, laptop and pen drive owned by Black.
The pervert was working with the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority during a secondment from his Scottish Government job but resigned as soon as the allegations came to light.
A Macdonald Hotels spokeswoman said: “Following an internal investigation, Christopher Black was dismissed on March 20 from his role as seconded team leader at Macdonald Hotels’ office in Bathgate.
“He was dismissed for gross misconduct following the revelation he had provided false information on his application form.”
Black couldn’t be reached at his home and didn’t respond to an emailed request for a comment.
