JORDAN JONES believes Kilmarnock’s climb up the Premiership table has cured his homesickness.
The Rugby Park wideman admits his twice weekly trips to see friends and family in Middlesbrough are a thing of the past after putting roots down in Ayrshire.
After emerging as a success story from a batch of 11 players signed on the same day last summer, the 22-year-old is settling in by winning the battle for top-flight safety.
He said: “When I first arrived I was in and out of the team. It was only when I started playing week in and week out that I found it easier to stay up here.
“At the start I was going home at least twice a week but focusing on the next game makes living in Scotland a whole lot easier.
“I’d never been away from my family, so moving for the first time was hard.
“But I’m getting used to it and I’ve found my feet. Hopefully I can keep my performance level high and add goals to my game.”
Killie travel to Inverness tomorrow in a bid to protect seventh place in the table as they target Partick Thistle who sit two points better off.
Jones said: “We’re looking forward to Inverness. We’ve taken five points from our last two games and want to build on that. We’re feeling confident we’ll get a result.
“We have four cup finals which start on Saturday.”
