Little Englanders don’t give a toss about Scotland

COMIC Russell Kane believes that if England held a referendum on Scotland’s future they’d tell us to get lost.

The former Big Brother’s Big Mouth funnyman owes his telly career to Scotland after winning the prestigious Edinburgh Festival Comedy Award in 2010.

But he fears Nicola Sturgeon’s referendum fight at a time when Theresa May is negotiating Brexit will whip up resentment down south.

Russell said: “If it wasn’t for Scotland, I wouldn’t have a career, so I am profoundly interested in what happens.

“But the depressing fact is I think a lot of English people don’t give a toss. That’s what really annoys me.

“In fact, if you were to give England a vote about whether Scotland should ‘sod off’, that would be a terrifying 24 hours. You know what English people are like? They are so isolationist, they’d be like, ‘If they want to leave, f*** ’em. Leave’.

“At the moment Scotland is like, you know when someone’s leaving a party and they want everyone to notice and stop them leaving?

“And they are at the door going, ‘I’ve called my taxi. I’m definitely about to leave the party’ and everyone else is like, ‘No one cares Andrew. Just f*** off’. That’s how I describe the situation.”

Russell added: “It would make more sense if Scotland wanted to not be part of Europe and wanted to be a cool little Norway or Switzerland type thing with loads of oil money
