Darian red in the past for Accies

GREG DOCHERTY insists it’s Ross County and not rude gestures dominating Hamilton minds.

The Accies midfielder believes team-mate Darian MacKinnon is full of regret after his red card for giving Motherwell fans the finger on Wednesday night.

But Docherty admits tomorrow’s collision with the Dingwall side now has their full attention.

He said: “I didn’t actually speak to Darian after the game. He just got changed quietly. I think he knows he has done wrong.

“He’ll be a big miss but he is still a good guy to have around the dressing room because he has great experience.

“But it’s done and we move on. There is no point dwelling on it. We’ve got a massive game tomorrow and have to focus on that.

“We know how important it is to beat County and as we’re at home we have to take the initiative.

“Then we’ve got Dundee next week so these are two huge games for us.

“They are matches we can win but we have to go out there and perform.”

Wednesday’s Fir Park stalemate leaves Accies three points above bottom side Inverness and Docherty says the derby outcome could be a blessing after the 10 men battled to a draw.

He said: “It was a good point for us when you take into consideration having a man sent off.

“Any point at this time of the season is good.”
