disappointment for the presenting pair is they can’t show them off when they’re out and about. Dec said: “It was surreal. I would like to put mine on my dressing gown but it stays in a safe. “It is weird because you get it and you walk through and then they take if off you and put it in a box and you never wear it again.” Ant added: “You are not allowed to wear them. “I’m gutted, otherwise I would have worn mine everywhere – in the bath, down the gym. “It was great for our mams. It made them really proud.” Telly viewers will have cheered the news that the lads signed a three-year contract with ITV at the end of last year, which Ant said will guarantee superpopular Saturday Night Takeaway on screen until 2020.

They will also front Britain’s Got Talent from next week, I’m A Celebrity in November and there are new shows in the pipeline.

Dec said: “We are talking about Christmas specials, because Text Santa is no longer around we could do a Saturday Night Takeaway special or an Ant and Dec special.

“We are talking about other individual programmes, so it is not just the three shows.”

Ant added: “We are shooting another show after this which will be on next year. It’s a documentary, it is a bit of a journey and quite personal but I can’t say any more right now.

“And we are looking at drama and Number of National Television Awards Ant and Dec have won scripted stuff. Sitcom is very hard to do well so I think we’d have to go for something left of centre.”

All of this seems to rule them out of another crack at US TV. Ant said: “It would have to be something special because it would mean taking a load of time off the three UK shows. We love doing those.”

First, though, they have tonight’s live show from Disney World’s Magic Kingdom to get through.

The pair “haven’t bought a drink all week” after bringing along 200 competition winners on a special Virgin Atlantic flight full of families.

The boys have faced 5am starts to prepare and film when the park is closed. The idea to film a Disney show has been “on the cards” for several

Number of Baftas the pair have won over the years years but was signed off last summer.

They have CeeLo Green performing a “singalong line” and actress Christina Ricci as a star guest announcer.

There will be three Ant v Dec contests and a big finale. Dec said: “We didn’t think we could pull it off. Our stage has gone up on the main street in the Magic Kingdom. We are still pinching ourselves saying, ‘This is actually going to happen.’”

Ant added: “This is much harder than a normal show. We have to build a brand new set and wardrobe.

“It’s the most ambitious thing we have ever done in live TV. The End of the Show show is huge. We have horses, stilt walkers, everything.”

The pair are famed for doing almost everything together – drinking, watching Newcastle United, even using the same hairdresser.

They first appeared together on CBBC drama Byker Grove when they were 14 – the age Sir Bruce Forysth started his seven-decade career.

The boys once performed with him at the National TV Awards and Ant said: “Bruce is a hero of ours. He was ill before Christmas and I hope he is better now. We send our love to him.”

Dec added: “We played golf with him, it was the best day ever. We laughed all the way round. We’ll have called it a day, or people will have told us to, by the time we are his age.” ●Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway comes live from Walt Disney World Resort in Florida with Virgin Holidays tonight at 7pm on STV.
