Carr: We can put bite on Kilby

-

RAYMOND CARR knows Lothian Thistle will be underdogs today – but reckons they are capable of shocking East Kilbride.

The teams will fight out a South Challenge Cup semifinal at K-Park.

And Thistle boss Carr said: “We’ve played them in the Scottish Cup and in the first pre-season game we beat them 2-0.

“We’ve built up a good friendship but we’ll be going out for a win.

“We’ve played about 40 games since last July and we’ve only lost two – one in the league where we had a bit of slip-up and the other a cup final against Spartans.

“And we have had a number of big scalps over the last year year or two against Lowland and junior sides.”

Carr’s side sit second-top in the East of Scotland League and the title is the big target.

He added: “Our aim is to get into the Lowland League. The league title is the way to promotion and I’ve told the players that we want to move up to the next level.”

Martin Laughlan is looking forward to East Kilbride’s first game as the Lowland League champions.

The Kilby boss said: “We just take each game as it comes but obviously the play-offs are coming up.

“And we know this will be a real tough cup tie against Lothian.”

The victors will take on Cumbernauld Colts – who beat East Stirling 3-2 in last night’s other semi-final.
