Play-offs a big reward for Jackson

-

ANDY JACKSON is hoping for a double celebration this weekend by gunning down Alloa after picking up his Player of the Month award.

The Brechin City striker was named League One’s top star after scoring in EVERY league game in March to keep his side in the play-off hunt.

But Jackson fired blanks in back-to-back defeats this month and is looking to get back on track with East Fife and Queen’s Park breathing down their necks.

Brechin face a tough trip to the Wasps today and Jackson – who has 15 goals for the season – said: “It’s good to get the recognition for scoring some goals and we’ve done well lately.

“But I just hope we can make the play-offs now.

“There are four games to go and we’ve got two at home. It’s in our own hands – we’re in the play-off spots just now.

“Alloa is a big game, and I’d say it’ll take three wins from four to make sure of the play-offs.”

Jackson has set his sights on hitting the 20-goal mark before the end of the season.

He said: “My aim is always double figures to start with. Once I get to 10, I aim for 15 and then take it from there.

“If I hadn’t been injured I could have hit 20 goals, which would have been amazing but there are still four games left and I’ll hopefully get close to it.”

Jackson started his career at St Johnstone and the 29-yearold hasn’t given up on a return to full-time football.

He added: “It would depend what type of offer came in if I was going back to full-time football.

“It would probably need to be in the Premiership, but whether or not a team is willing to take a chance is another story. Having said that, I’m happy at Brechin. They’ve been good to me.”
