DEREK McInnes has savaged suggestions Ryan Jack is set for a summer switch to Rangers.
The Aberdeen boss hit out at reports his skipper was a pre-contract target for the Ibrox club as an attempt to disrupt the Dons for the championship run-in.
McInnes held talks with Jack before
training yesterday but he insisted the captain denied any discussions with Gers – and hinted his future is more likely to be in England.
The 25-year-old’s deal is up at the end of the season but he has yet to rule out remaining at Pittodrie.
McInnes, speaking to Red TV, said: “It got brought to my attention and I spoke to Ryan as I normally do on training day.
“He gave me assurances there had been no contact, he doesn’t anticipate contact and it’s not something he’s interested in.
“Ryan’s really happy here. He hasn’t ruled out staying and we’re all hopeful he will be here. But if he does decide to move on his likely destination will be England. He sees that as maybe his next opportunity if he decides to leave Aberdeen.
“You have to question the reasons for it, whether it’s to destabilise us or whatever.
“But I have been assured by Ryan – and I trust Ryan – him or his agent have had no contact with Rangers.
“He plays an integral part for us, hopefully beyond the end of the season, but certainly for the remaining games.”
