Diamonds set to show hard edge

-

JACK LEITCH insists Airdrie will fight every step of the way in their promotion bid.

The midfielder reckons the Diamonds might need to win their last three games to make sure of a play-off place, starting with rivals Alloa today.

The Wasps have already sealed their spot in the League One shoot-out and Airdrie are determined to join them.

Leitch said: “It’s another must-win game for us.

“We have three games to play and I think we need to win them all.

“We’ve seen all season that you can’t predict anything in this league. I think it’s probably going to go to the last game.

“If we put ourselves in a good position with a win on Saturday then we’ll see what happens.”

Alloa player-boss Jim Goodwin is set to rest some of his star players ahead of the play-offs but Leitch is not expecting a stroll at Excelsior Stadium.

He said: “It’s always difficult against Alloa. Even if they rest players, the boys who come in will want to impress the manager ahead of the play-off games.

“Whatever team they put out it will be a tough game but we’ve beaten them twice and we’re confident we can do it again.”

Diamonds coach Mark Wilson is looking for his side to bounce back after defeat to Stranraer last week.

He said: “We know we weren’t at our best but we will take huge confidence from the way we played at home against Brechin.

“We’ll be looking for more of the same against Alloa.”
