One big Con trick
THE Tory pulse has been weak in Scotland for 20 years.
But if new polls are anything to go by, the party are about to wake up from a deep slumber.
An astonishing 12 seats could go their way at the general election on June 8.
That’s just in Scotland – a country that has had only one Tory MP since 2001.
The Scottish result is likely to be a bit of a stretch – but the warning signs are clear.
And if they do bounce back to 1970s levels of support, this country could be in for a real shock.
Scottish Tory leader Ruth Davidson and Prime Minister Theresa May are desperate to make this all about preventing the break-up of the UK.
But the time for those discussions would be during any second referendum campaign.
Even a landslide Tory win will not erase First Minister Nicola Sturgeon’s burning desire to ask the question again.
June 8 is about the future of much more than a referendum. It’s about budgets, policies and the way we are governed.
Be careful what you wish for.
