NOON on April 25, 2015, is a moment seared into the minds of dozens of Scots tourists looking for adventure in Nepal.

That was when a huge earthquake brought horror to the Himalayas, killing nearly 9000 people and leaving hundreds of thousands homeless.

“Our group is completely self-sufficient for a fortnight – we have our own doctors, showers, food and water – and we take state-of-the-art rescue equipment and a search dog so we can get a lot done.”

The UK’s 70-man crew flew into tiny Kathmandu airport and set up base at the British embassy.

Danny teamed up with a unit of Ghurkas and was quickly set to work making the city’s hospital safe.

He said: “Our first job was to secure
