A TERRIFIED mum was sent to A&E after a spider started building a web inside her ear. Angela Colborn, 38, was advised to go to hospital when her face turned red and her head ached. Medics looked into her ear canal to uncover the cause of the pain – and found a spider. Angela believes the creepycrawly spent around six hours inside her head before being flushed out by a nurse. She said: “I knew something was in there – I could feel it moving. “Waiting in A&E was horrible. I could feel it wriggling around inside and I just wanted to jump. Every time it moved, I was getting more and more panicky.

“There were no tears or swearing – just panic. I kept thinking, ‘Please, please get it out.’”

Angela believes the spider got in as she dropped daughter Lara, nine, off at school in the morning.

When her ear began to swell, she visited a pharmacist for advice and was sent to A&E.

Medics initially failed to find the spider but wedding hairdresser Angela asked for a second opinion.

A doctor then tried to remove the spider with forceps before a nurse used oil to drown it.

Angela, of Wallington, south London, said: “The next day, I decided to go back to hospital for peace of mind and they told me it definitely wasn’t in there.

“They had a good old rummage around, which was really painful, but I just needed to know.”
