I want to be a part of push fortreble

PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARDS

From Back Page hope to complete the domestic treble.

And last night Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers urged Roberts to commit his long-term future to Celtic – if Man City tell him he isn’t part of their plans.

Roberts said: “I’ve enjoyed my time with Celtic immensely and from day one it felt like home.

“It is a special place and it has been a privilege to be part of the success we have enjoyed.

“We have had a brilliant season and in such a special year for the club I want to be part of everything here.

“It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and now I will focus on continuing to do all I can for Celtic.

“I spoke to the gaffer and this is just something I really wanted to do.”

The Parkhead crowd pleaser will return to his parent club at the end of the season and Pep Guardiola will run the rule over him again.

Roberts is considering all options if it doesn’t work out with the Premier League big guns and Rodgers said: “It is a possibility Pat could return in August.

“I would definitely take him. It certainly wouldn’t harm him to come here for the next two or three years and just continue that development.

“Pat just needs to keep on this line of progress. He came here as an 18-yearold kid, has had a great 18-month spell and now returns to City.

“They will be able to see his development. If he knows he is not going to be in their squad then I am sure they will look at ways for that to continue. We have good relations with City.”
