IAN CATHRO has revealed he won’t be taking a single day off during the summer because he will be far too busy rebuilding Hearts.

The 30-year-old boss vowed to throw himself completely into his work and then joked that he might go skiing in the winter months.

Cathro said: “I expect to be busy. I don’t see a break. I’ve no interest in time off just now.

“I’d be saying the same thing even if circumstances were more average or better or worse.

“The way the season starts so early, if we do our work properly in the next six weeks then we can maybe go skiing in winter!”

Cathro has won just five games in 23 matches since he took over from Robbie Neilson last December.

He insisted that despite many attempts to knock him along the way he has learned three valuable lessons in his first five months in management.

Cathro said: “I have learned that I am stronger than I thought I was.

“I’m more resilient than I thought I was and more confident than I thought I was. That’s my three lessons. That is how I feel.

“I don’t see any set of circumstances that would dent my confidence when it comes to my ability to deliver football.”

Cathro also revealed that he never thought of pulling out of last Monday’s Q&A session with the Hearts supporters.

Fans stumped up £15 to gain an insight into Cathro and No.2 Austin MacPhee’s vision for the club.

Cathro said: “I had no problem with it but you don’t get three points for a Q&A.

“Maybe it’s assumed it’s easier to deal with that situation if I was 55, had played for 20 years and had heart attacks on the sidelines every time the referee points in the wrong direction.

“There was never a reason to hide from things.”

Meanwhile, Cathro refused to comment on speculation linking Hearts with a move for their former skipper and Scotland defender Christophe Berra.
