Frail serial killer Tobin too scared to leave his prison room for fear of attacks from cons repulsed by his crimes
MONSTER Peter Tobin has become a hermit in prison because he’s too scared to leave his cell.
The frail serial murderer, who once revelled in terrorising women and girls, cuts a pathetic figure at Saughton jail in Edinburgh as he hides himself away from other
cons revolted by his crimes.
“He never comes out his cell,” a source said. “He spends all day, every day in there.
“You never see him. He’s a tired, frightened old man.”
Pervert Tobin will die behind bars for the murders of Angelika Kluk, 23, Vicky Hamilton, 15, and Dinah McNicol, 18. He has an appalling record of other sex attacks, many involving horrific violence.
Police suspect he killed many more young women but he won’t admit his guilt. He has told detectives he “couldn’t give a f***” about his victims’ families.
Tobin has been living in fear since 2015, when child rapist Sean Moynihan sliced his face open with a razor blade in Saughton, leaving him with an eight-inch scar.
Moynihan told police Tobin’s attitude to his crimes had been “annoying me for months”.
Our source said: “Tobin has been paranoid ever since that someone else is going to get him.
“He doesn’t really speak to people, other than the guards. He’s quite obnoxious – not likeable at all.
“He’s usually allowed to eat in his cell. Sometimes he’s told to join the other prisoners in the dining room but mostly he’s just left alone.”
Tobin’s fear of attack has grown since police interviews where he spat bile at his victims’ families were broadcast on cable TV this year.
An officer asked him: “You’re not interested in helping families who may have missed ones you might have information about?”
Tobin replied: “I couldn’t give a f***.”
The detectives repeatedly asked if he had other victims, but all Tobin would say was, “Go and waste your money.”
Our source said: “He wasn’t happy about that programme – especially when it was in the papers as well.
“He was whining that it would get him another kicking.”
Tobin also has a long history of moaning about his health. Our source said: “He doesn’t keep well. He’s often seen by the doctors.
“He doesn’t look like this scary serial killer – just a frail old man.”
The Scottish Prison Service said: “We do not discuss individual prisoners.”
Tobin killed Vicky and Dinah in 1991, but his guilt was not revealed until after he was caged for the 2006 murder of Angelika.
The Polish student was living at St Patrick’s Church in Glasgow, where Tobin worked as a handyman under a false name.
He battered her with a table leg, raped her, then savagely stabbed her 16 times before hiding her body under the church floor, next to the confessional.
