My mate Iron Man is coming to the rescue
Aaron, 7, gets call from Robert Downey Jr
IRON MAN star Robert Downey Jr proved a real superhero by calling a young Scots fan.
The actor made a special video call to Aaron Hunter after the seven-year-old begged his favourite superhero to help save the lives of his friends.
Aaron has ROHHAD – an extremely rare, potentially lethal disease affecting the respiratory and nervous system – and made his appeal on social media after one of his pals with the same disorder died.
And Downey Jr, who is due to arrive in Scotland for the filming of the new Avengers movie, stunned Aaron and his family, from Alexandria in Dunbartonshire, by getting in touch.
Aaron’s mum Elisabeth said the film megastar called from California in character as Tony Stark from Iron Man and told his young fan he was a “brave hero” for everything he had done.
She added: “The timing was a complete surprise. He’s not yet on set filming the Avengers in Scotland but he said he didn’t want to wait to speak to Aaron.
“He was in character as Tony Stark and Aaron absolutely believes that he has spoken to the real Iron Man.
“The pair of them chatted for about half an hour and he really was so sweet to him. He made Aaron feel very special and he told him that he was a hero.”
Aaron is hopeful he will be able to meet his new pal when he lands in Scotland.
“I’m just so proud of him. He’s just so special,” Elisabeth added.
“We’ll never forget this call from Robert – it’s etched in our memories forever.”
