ANDY Murray has pumped cash into two innovation firms – including one who produce the world’s first flat-folding cycling helmet.

The world tennis No1 has ploughed undisclosed amounts of money into tech start-up Den and helmet company Morpher, taking his portfolio on Seedrs to more than 20 companies.

Morpher – who produce helmets that fold and unfold – have raised more than £659,000 from almost 400 investors. Their product is aimed at cyclists who don’t wear a helmet because they are too cumbersome to carry.

Den call their product a Smart Home system that will “reduce your bills, alert you if you leave the TV on and warn you if your nan is in trouble”.

The company have raised more than £2.1million on Seedrs, from more than 1150 investors.

Andy said: “Den is exactly the kind of innovative, smart technology which households around the globe will utilise in the future, and Morpher is a product the modern cyclist should own – one that’s been dutifully perfected by an award-winning inventor.”

Andy is also putting money into peer-to-peer lenders Landbay for the second time, by exercising pre-emptive rights in the firm’s latest equity round.

His other investments have included Perkbox, WeSwap, Oppo Ice Cream and annual train subscription service Commuter Club.

Seedr’s chief investment officer Thomas Davies said: “We’re delighted that Andy continues to be so active in early-stage investment.”
