RANGERS fans are still questionin­g the wisdom of Pedro Caixinha in deciding to ditch Clint Hill.

The 38-year-old was told last week he won’t be offered a contract extension this summer. But Hill has more supporters on his side as Rangers fans leaped to his defence.

said: “Danny Wilson looked a decent player at Rangers first time round because he played alongside David Weir. I would have kept Hill to guide Wilson through next season.

“Hill is the best defender at the club and he gave his all for the Light Blues jersey.

“I just hope Caixinha knows what he is doing bringing in 35-year-old Cagliari stopper Bruno Alves.

“I am not so sure it is such a good idea to spend £500,000 on Alves. I would rather keep Hill on board as he knows what the Premiershi­p is all about.”

said: “I don’t understand or see the logic in Caixinha’s summer transfer policy.

“Caixinha has chosen not to renew Hill’s contract and yet he is looking to buy 35-year-old Bruno Alves.

“Hill may be 38 but he is one of the stars of a very bad Rangers team at present. He would be ideal for younger players to learn from his experience.”

“The majority of Rangers fans will be sad to see Hill go. He proved he can still do a job.”
