One of them, Amanda McGoldrick, is a dubbing mixer. The pair have been close since they worked the graveyard shift on Scotsport before hitting Glasgow club The Shack on the way home.
Laura said: “Amanda works in a wee hidden-away dub suite. I can sit on the sofa in there and hide away if I need to.”
Being one of Laura’s bridesmaids requires training shoes and a strong constitution. They are expected to join her at events, such as the Race for Life last weekend, to raise money for cancer causes.
Then there are the nights out. Despite being the one with cancer, Laura is the group’s social secretary, always ready to get the next big bash into the diary. And if anyone is flagging, they get leukaemia cast up in their faces.
Gill said: “Laura’s got more stamina than anyone. She’s the one dragging us out every weekend. I might want a quiet one but she will be saying, ‘Come on, I’ve got cancer. If I can do it, so can you.”’
To watch Laura twinkling on telly, it’s hard to believe that she is living with a chronic, life-threatening disease.
She added: “Everyone looks at me and thinks I’m cured because I work like mad and I go out and I don’t let it stop me. But CML is controlled rather than cured.

“Cancer has given me a lust for life. Life – you have to live it, every moment.
“When I was diagnosed, the life expectancy for CML was three to five years. That was terrifying. I’m a fan of Schwarzkopf’s Bonacure Sun Protect range which includes shampoo, spray-on conditioner and shimmer oil. Their travel pack of 100ml sized bottles means they can be put in hand luggage if you’re flying. BETTER BLOW DRY Use a silicone spray-on lotion, such as Kerastase’s Micro-Voile Protecteur when blow-drying. It will help reduce hair dehydration, especially if you’re using straighteners. DRY SHAMPOO Less is more when it comes to hair washing, so on holiday it’s good to pack a quality dry shampoo. Applied at the roots, the Schwarzkopf Osis Refresh Dust bodifying dry shampoo is the ideal quick fix for all hair types. ● For more about Taylor Ferguson see www. taylorferguson.com or call 0141 332 0397.
