RAY McKINNON spent the morning after the night before picking up the pieces of Dundee United’s failure to make the Premiership.
The Tannadice boss admits the play-off loss at Hamilton ensured there had been no sleep as he tossed and turned with misery running through his head.
A side that had been running on empty were condemned to another campaign stuck in the Championship and all the consequences that will bring.
McKinnon said: “I was lying in bed contemplating it all. There is so much to think about, who’s getting a new contact and who isn’t. It’s difficult to shift the doom and gloom but that’s what we need to do.
“The biggest sadness is I went to the well repeatedly with so many players and we didn’t have enough to get over the line.
“That’s what really killed us but I’m a positive person and I’ve had enough setbacks to be able to see the bigger picture.”
One look at the face of chairman Stephen Thompson at the Superseal Stadium told its own story, a club that had been forced to make post-relegation cuts of £1.55million would have to get the scissors out again.
