MUM-OF-FOUR Angela Moreno’s friends rallied round to give her a wedding day to remember – four weeks after she was told she had breast cancer.

The 45-year-old, who had just got engaged to Keith when she was given the diagnosis, said: “I went from feeling on top of the world to the bottom. “I’d lost my mum and my aunt to breast cancer and I was terrified of what was going to happen to me.”

Instead of having a long engagement as planned, Angela and Keith, of Harthill, Lanarkshire, decided they wanted to tie the knot as soon as possible.

And their friends at Harthill Community Church made their wish come true four-and-a-half weeks later.

They paid for Angela’s wedding gown, decorated the hall, put on a wedding breakfast for 80 people and arranged entertainment.

And the couple wed with their kids by their side. Angela’s sons Cameron, Cole, Bailey and Boyd looked dapper for their mum’s big day and Keith’s daughter Khariss was flower girl.

Angela said: “It was amazing. I got married in the church and they totally transformed the place. It was gorgeous.

“Myself and Keith were overwhelmed and are so grateful.”

Angela, who said the cancer treatment was “tough”, added: “I pick myself up and get on with it. I think a positive attitude is key. I’m determined to beat cancer and certainly won’t give up without a fight.”

She is now volunteering at the Harthill Community Cancer Support Group.
