Recite the alphabet. What did I just say?

Not sing the National Anthem backwards

POLICE have released footage showing a dazed and confused Tiger Woods failing roadside sobriety tests before being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The golfer clearly struggles to walk and keep his eyes open after he is apprehended by two officers who found him asleep behind the wheel of his car.

The 14-time Major winner’s Mercedes was straddling a road and a bike lane near his home in Jupiter, Florida, in the early hours of Monday.

It was stationary but the engine was running with the indicators flashing. The car had two flat tyres and “recent” damage to its alloys.

In the video, one of the officers tells Woods: “You are going to recite the entire English alphabet in a slow, non-rhythmic manner, meaning you’re not going to sing it, OK? Do you understand the instructions?”

Woods replies: “I do.” The officer asks: “What were the instructions?”

Woods answers: “Not to sing the national anthem backwards.”

When the former world No1 is asked if he knows why he is being questioned, he replies: “Say again?”

The officer tells him: “It’s because you’re stopped in the road, in the middle of the road. Have you been drinking?” Woods replies: “Nah.” The 41-year-old also fails to walk straight along a white line and seems unable to follow a moving torch light.

When asked where he’s heading, he replies: “I have no idea.”

A breath test showed the golfer, who spent four hours in jail, had no alcohol in his system.

Woods, who had back surgery five weeks ago, later apologised and blamed his dazed state on medication.

He said: “I want the public to know alcohol was not involved.

“What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn’t realise the mix of medications had affected me so strongly.”

Woods, who has two children with his ex-wife, Swedish model Elin Nordegren, is due in court on July 5.
