A DISTRAUGHT mum has told how thieves invaded her home as her young children slept, then drove off in the family’s two BMWs.

Allison Boseman-McCorquodale said: “What could have happened if we’d woken up and gone downstairs doesn’t bear thinking about.”

The scumbags broke into the family’s home in Bothwell, Lanarkshire, in the early hours of Tuesday. Allison, husband Scott and kids Alfie, three, and Jude, one, were all at home at the time.

The gang stole a white BMW X1 (V77 ALY) worth £35,000 and a blue BMW 1 series (W77 SMC) valued at £30,000.

“They got in by bursting the lock on the sun room door,” Allison said.

“We live in a town house and were on the top floor but my husband was up until 1am as our youngest son had an upset stomach.

“The fact we could have been woken and gone downstairs to investigate is scary.

“I don’t know if they were targeting the cars specifically, but they also stole my work laptop, my husband’s work iPad and my wee boy’s Kindle.

“They also took an old PlayStation 3 and even a baby bag I hook on to the buggy.

“We don’t want this to happen to anyone else. It’s awful, but at least none of us were hurt and we’re safe.”

Police said: “This has been a very upsetting incident for the family.”

They urged anyone who saw the cars being driven through the area, perhaps at speed, to get in touch.
