Kaymer blasts ‘nasty’ reaction to Tiger arrest
MARTIN KAYMER has hit out at the “nasty and disrespectful” comments over Tiger Woods’ arrest for driving under the influence.
The former world No.1 was arrested on Monday in Florida. He blamed being confused on an “unexpected reaction” to a mix of prescription medicines.
Police released footage of Woods failing to pass a sobriety test. However, the 14-time Major winner took a breathalyser test, which corroborated that he didn’t have alcohol in his system.
German Kaymer, himself a former world No.1, posted a video on Twitter on Thursday in which he said: “People know what happened to Tiger and there are so many comments, so many opinions. They are so unfair and disrespectful. Everybody in golf was changed by Tiger’s legacy, by his play, by so many things he did.
“He brought cultures together, he made races, Afro-Americans, feel more comfortable to play golf. He inspired kids, teenagers, he inspired all of us.
“I find it so nasty that people kick him while he’s already on the floor. Why be so nasty? Why don’t you try to help him?
“My wish would be just stop being so nasty. We all want to see him happier and hopefully one day to see him play golf again.”
Woods said he took “full responsibility” for the incident but added: “I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved.”
