Faddy’s Well on his way just as duo arrive

- ANTHONY HAGGERTY

MOTHERWELL last night parted company with assistant boss James McFadden as former Rangers loanee Gael Bigirimana and ex-Inverness ace Alex Fisher checked in at Fir Park on two-year deals.

Faddy left the Steelmen by mutual consent as he brought the curtain down on a third stint with Well after serving as No.2 to Mark McGhee and Steve Robinson.

Burundi internationalist Bigirimana was one of the notorious ‘Newcastle Five’ who signed for the Light Blues on deadline day in January 2015.

But he never kicked a ball for the Ibrox men during his six-month loan stint as he was suffering from a serious medical condition before he even arrived in Glasgow.

Bigirimana went back to Newcastle in the summer of that year before cancelling his contract with the Magpies at the start of last season and joining Coventry.

The 23-year-old, who will wear the No.5 five jersey for Well, revealed he jumped at the chance to return to Scotland after feeling he had some unfinished business.

He said: “I am excited and feel privileged to be here. When I was in Scotland with Rangers, I loved being in Glasgow. The reason I chose Motherwell is because I want to be part of this club’s community.

“I did not get to play when I was at Rangers and now I have been given this opportunity here.”

Meanwhile, Fisher has opted to stay in the Premiership after signing on the dotted line for the Lanarkshire men.

The 6ft 3in striker said: “I’m delighted to get this move over the line. It’s a big club.”
