Karamoko signs on
KARAMOKO DEMBELE has committed himself to Celtic after signing an SFA youth registration contract.
The gifted schoolboy
midfielder hit the headlines when he made his debut for Celtic Under-20s at the age of 13 in October last year.
Now 14, he has since gone on to play for Scotland Under-16s and England Under-15s.
Dembele is also in demand at club level but will continue his coaching and education with Celtic and their partnership school, St Ninian’s in Kirkintilloch.
Celtic’s head of youth, Chris McCart, told the club website: “Our focus is solely on Karamoko’s needs and we will commit ourselves, as we do with all our players, to giving him the best chance to flourish in football and all other aspects of life.
“It is important he is given the time and space to reach his potential and we feel our programme will provide that environment.
“He knows how hard it is to reach the top in football but we’ll give him everything he needs to achieve what he can in the game.”
The teenager said: “I’m delighted. This is the right place for me to fulfil my potential and my goal is to reach the first team.
“It won’t be easy but I will show commitment, hard work and responsibility.”
The player’s father, Losseni Dembele, added: “It’s about my son’s development and there isn’t a better place than Celtic for him at the moment.”
