Passenger’s shoes wrecked as she gets off cancelled train

A RAIL customer has blasted ScotRail after her £420 Louboutin shoes were ruined following a cancelled service.

Gwen Watson Smith, 45, got on a train at Bathgate, West Lothian, with her husband David, 54.

They were then told the train had been cancelled due to signalling errors, so they got off again.

As Gwen struggled with her bag and David’s wheelchair, she caught the heel of her pink Louboutins.

She’s now faced with the prospect of sending the shoes to a specialist shop in London to have them fixed.

Gwen posted a picture of her ruined shoes on ScotRail’s Facebook page with the caption: “£420 pair of Louboutins wasted after getting off train that you decided to cancel. No buses available either. Total joke of a company. Bathgate-Edinburgh.”

Gwen and David, who is waiting on a transplant after a heart attack in 2015, were going to an NHS event in Fife when their train was cancelled.

She said: “It was a busy train and I had my handbag and my husband had his medication on his lap.

“It was pandemonium as we got off and I caught my shoes. When I bought them from Harvey Nichols, they gave me a card recommending a specialist in London to fix them so I’ll most likely have to send them there.”

A spokesman for ScotRail said: “We’ve been in touch with Gwen to obtain details so we can investigate.”
