MY BOYS HAVE CLASS OF 2004

INVERNESS

-

NEW Inverness boss John Robertson believes the players have all the attributes of his 2004 promotion winners.

The new Caley boss is preparing for a busy summer of transfer activity as he rebuilds his depleted squad following their relegation to the Championship.

But Robertson insists he’s heartened by the quality of seasoned players he’s inherited for their top-flight push.

He said: “The task is the same now as it was when we won the league in 2004. We want to get to the Premiership.

“You can draw parallels in respect of the team now and the team then.

“For Bobby Mann, look at Gary Warren. For the likes of Russell Duncan, look at Ross Draper. For Stuart Golabek, look at Carl Tremarco and for Barry Wilson, look at Aaron Doran.

“There are so many parallels in players with similar attitudes, similar styles – and hopefully we can get similar results.

“We need to add quality and a physical and athletic presence.”

But promotion won’t come easy for the Caley players who have been asked to report back for pre-season early next week and face three daily training sessions.

Robertson said: “We may be training at 7am and 7pm but the players are going to enjoy it.

“I want to have players coming here buzzing. I want them fit, strong and technically ready – and playing with smiles on their faces.”
