Rowwill notstop Signeul teamcall

SCOTLAND coach Anna Signeul intends to announce her Euro 2017 squad as planned on Tuesday despite her players’ ongoing dispute with the SFA.

No progress has been made in resolving issues since the squad, led by captain Gemma Fay, imposed a media blackout last Thursday.

The players have yet to say what their grievances are and what they hope to achieve – but they relate to terms and conditions when on Scotland duty, including financial compensation.

They gave no interviews before or after Friday’s home friendly against Romania and it was the same for Tuesday night’s defeat to Sweden in Vaxjo.

Signeul has not had her troubles to seek in the last three months. She had to play a reserve side against Belgium in April when nine of her players were injured and another unavailable.

Since then star player Kim Little and Hibs forward Lizzie Arnot have been ruled out of the Netherlands tourney with knee injuries. First-choice defenders Emma Mitchell and Jen Beattie are also doubtful.

Signeul will keep places open for both and is expected to name only 21 of the 23 players on Tuesday.

Two more defenders, Ifeoma Dieke and Rachel Corsie, were injured in the Romania and Sweden games. The last 30 minutes in Vaxjo were played with two centre-backs who had never been in a Scotland squad before April, when they were drafted in for the Belgium game because of the injury crisis.

Eskilstuna United’s Vaila Barsley started against the Belgians and kept her place for the recent friendlies. She was outstanding in all three games and has been a real find for Signeul.

Hoffenheim defender Sophie Howard, who came on as a second-half sub against Belgium and Sweden, is an outside bet for the Euros and only likely to be in if Beattie fails to make it.
