CELTIC LAND £1.3M HAYES
JONNY HAYES is set to seal his £1.3million move from Aberdeen to Celtic within the next 48 hours.
The Republic of Ireland star will join the champions after the Dons agreed a fee with the Parkhead club and secured Ryan Christie on loan for next season.
Hayes is on holiday after playing for his country in their World Cup qualifier against Austria last weekend but he will return to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical.
The 29-year-old was also wanted by Birmingham and Cardiff but Brendan Rodgers
has won the race for the winger who will become his first signing of the transfer window by this weekend.
That means Hayes will be available for the beginning of Celtic’s pre-season training next week.
Hayes bagged 11 goals for the Dons last term – including two against the Hoops in the final month of the season – leading to him being nominated for Player of the Year awards.
The Irishman has been a massive success at Pittodrie after making almost 200 appearances in five years since signing from Inverness.
Christie will head back to the Granite City as part of the deal for another loan spell.
The 22-year-old now returns for a year-long deal with the Reds after proving a hit during his five months at Pittodrie last season.
