Trump tweet makes USA grate again
Still moaning about ‘witch hunt’
DONALD Trump whined on Twitter about a “witch hunt” yesterday after it emerged that he faces a criminal investigation over his sacking of FBI director James Comey.
He wrote: “You are witnessing the single greatest WITCH HUNT in American political history – led by some very bad and conflicted people!”
Trump ended the tweet with “MAGA” – short for “Make America Great Again”.
US reports say special counsel Robert Mueller, appointed to investigate possible links between Trump aides and Russian meddling in last year’s election campaign, has broadened his inquiry to look at the president himself.
Mueller was hired to take over the FBI investigation amid concerns Trump was trying to sabotage it.
He’s accused of badgering Comey repeatedly to end the probe, then firing him when he refused. Trump admitted “this Russia thing” was a reason for the sacking.
Trump has repeatedly described the fast-growing Russia inquiry as a witch hunt, while bragging time and again that he was not being investigated himself.
When press reports suggested that was no longer the case, he hit back with typical bluster.
He tweeted: “They made up a phony collusion with the Russians story, found zero proof, so now they go for obstruction of justice on the phony story. Nice.”
Trump’s presidency will be destroyed if he is found to have been involved in Russian meddling or any effort to obstruct justice.
Most Americans are sick of his moaning. A historically low 35 per cent of voters now think he’s doing a good job in the White House.
But millions of loyal supporters continue to believe his Twitter rants.
