CurseofThe Mummystar

Annabelle Wallis comes from a famous family whose women have been dogged by tragedy private person” and has remained tightlipped about her reported relationship with rock star dad-of-two Chris, 40, saying recently: “I love the person I love, but it means so much that I like to keep it safe.”

Yet Marie Lloyd was the darling of the newspaper gossip pages.

She married her first husband Percy Courteney while pregnant aged 17 in 1887, but after he turned violent she got her first divorce in 1905, aged 35.

She married singer Alec Hurley the following year but by 1910 had fallen for a toyboy – jockey Bernard Dillon – and began living “in sin” with him.

It was outrageous for the time – and she caused further scandal in 1913 when she took Dillon with her to New York and was detained at Ellis Island – as they knew she had a husband back home – and was threatened with deportation.

But a US ruled the illicit couple were allowed to stay so she could fulfil her contracts in the US.

A year later, it was reported she had further misfortune when she suffered a “badly scarred face” after using a face cream “poisoned” with carbolic soap.

After her second divorce and then tying the knot with Dillon, she thought she had found her happy ending – only for him to became violent, turning the singer to drink.

They were separated when she collapsed on stage in October 1922 and died a few days later aged 52.

Like Marie, stunning Annabelle also

I’m this blonde woman who you can be fooled into thinking is safe but is dangerous

ANNABELLE WALLIS shares some other traits – being a magnet for handsome men. Before being linked to Chris, Annabelle dated British model James Rousseau and she is also best friends with Hollywood actor Jared Leto.

She also shares Marie’s knack for raising a few eyebrows – Annabelle is certainly not shy onscreen.

She got her breakthrough in the BBC’s bodice-ripping drama The Tudors, playing Jane Seymour opposite Jonathan Rhys Meyers’ Henry VIII.

Fans saw her giving more than a peek of flesh during Peaky Blinders. Annabelle stripped off again for scenes in last year’s Sacha Baron Cohen comedy Grimsby.

She said: “I’m this blonde, blue-eyed woman who you can be fooled into thinking is safe, but is dangerous. I get a kick out of turning the tables on people.”

However, some might say her career has suffered something of a curse.

She was in Wallis Simpson drama W.E. in 2011, which famously flopped.

After TV series Pan Am was axed after one season, she starred in Grimsby, named one of the top 10 flops of last year. Her last film, Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur, bombed at the box office.

However, with The Mummy set to become part of Universal’s Dark Universe of interconnected horror films, we’re bound to be seeing more of Annabelle.

And something tells us, it’s going to take more than a feared curse to hold her back...
