LABOUR SURGE AHEAD

LABOUR have overtaken the Tories in popularity and four in 10 people think Theresa May should resign, a poll suggests.

Research by Survation for Good Morning Britain gave Jeremy Corbyn’s party a three point lead with 44 per cent of respondent­s backing Labour, 41 per cent opting for the Tories, six per cent for the Lib Dems and two per cent for UKIP.

Some 48 per cent of people surveyed said May should remain Prime Minister, while 45 per cent want her to resign.

But May was the party leader that most people trusted to negotiate the best Brexit deal – 52 per cent – while 39 per cent backed Corbyn.

Fifty-one per cent of respondent­s said they would vote to stay in the EU, with 49 per cent for Brexit.
