Amir rips India apart to win Champions Trophy

-

MOHAMMAD AMIR completed his cricketing redemption with a stunning spell of fast bowling to win the Champions Trophy for Pakistan at The Oval.

Back in London, where he was once exposed by a spot-fixing sting, the 25-year-old left-armer dismissed the three most dangerous batsmen in India’s line-up with a series of seaming thunderbolts.

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan fell either side of Virat Kohli and from 33-3 the chances of India getting anywhere near their victory target of 339 were done and dusted.

The margin in the end was 180 runs, thanks also to Fakhar Zaman (114) who picked the Final of a major tournament to score his first one-day hundred.

It marked the biggest win Pakistan have had over their fiercest rivals.

Amir said: “That was the start we needed because Shikhar, Rohit and Kohli were in tremendous form.

“I was looking for early wickets and I did it.”
